new plants - Orchid Board

After my exams today, and staying till 4pm studieng for the exam on Thursday, then right after I had a horse riding lesson that felt sooo long. Then I was finally able to get back to orchids.

Our orchid society had a meeting and I was thinking of joining, so they invited me to the next meeting to see how it goes. Then to my surprise I find Lourens Grobler from Afriorchids doing a speech!

I had a chat with him and also went home with some plants, all priced from $2-$5. The whole trip only cost me $19, what a bargain.
Here are the plants I bought.

Photo 1: Liparis griffithii $2

Photo 2: Dendrochilum filiforme $5

Photo 3: Ornithophora radicans $4

Photo 4: Cirrhaea dependens $4

Photo 5: Coelogyne trinervis $4

Photo 6: mystery orchid. I think it might be a cynorkis of some type

Now my question, how should I keep them from dying.

as they say "you hit a homerun". The Dendrochilium likes to be damp and phal type light and higher humidity, at least that is how I do mine...

Wow! Nice plants for those prices! Hopefully someone who grows them will have some tips.

We've just had a speech about Dendrochilum in our society.
filiforme is on my list since then :-)

I can remember a few things:

- There are hard leaved Ddc. which can take nearly Cattleya light and there are soft leaved types that need shadier conditions.
Attention: wide leafs can be hard and narrow leafs soft !

- most of the Ddc. are very fast growers so you will have to divide or repot the plants quite often. Repot right after it finished blooming and NOT in any other stage of the growing cycle.

This is a very interesting genus with dozens of species not yet described

Your mystery plant looks like a Liparis. Some Liparis are unifoliar and have heart shaped leaves.

My experience and book knowledge...dendrochilums don't like to dry out,like warmth and somewhat bright light and like to be potbound. Cirrhaea dependens I just acquired-no help here. My coelogynes don't dry out,inter. temps and again somewhat bright light. These conditions work for me but read as much as you can.Nice group of plants.
