All ouse plants need to be rotated. But i read today that orchids should remain in same position and place. I don't understand the logic behind that. Which is the correct way to handle them?

You can rotate them until they spike. Then you leave them in the same position to keep the spike growing in one direction.

I don't always rotate my houseplants. As long as they are growing well there, I leave them alone. It is another situation when it is obviously elongating trying to reach for the light, then you turn a quarter or so to help the house plant.

As to orchids, agree with Brooke.

It messes up the flowers if you move them once the process of flowering has been initiated. Some people even mark the pots so that if they do move them to water them, they can put them back the same way.
My tropical plants have never seemed to need rotated and so I bring them in for the winter and then do not move them until I carry them outside for the summer.
