Hmm, how long has it been in bloom? It could just be natural bloom death or...have you looked at the roots? How often do you water it? You don't get water in the crown do you?
Also how long have you had it? How long has it been in its current location? But first I go back and say, Check the ROOTS.

I see nothing wrong with it although the roots could be in good or bad condition. The plant is DEFINITELY not dead
Orchid blooms do not last forever and they will eventually fade, so nothing wrong with that. but what is important is the health of the plant NOT the flowers.

I agree, the plant itself from what we can see looks good; the leaves don't look droopy or wrinkled. That's why I asked about how long it's been in bloom. Flowers can die if the conditions aren't right, or change to dramatically, but they can also die if you under or over water. Then of course they die when well they're just done.

Orchids flowers have a finite life span. If you are looking for one that will stay in bloom forever, buy silk flowers. Many look just like the real thing and do not need any care other than an occasional dusting.

I'll just add to whats been said by saying that,to me, in the 2nd pix the spike appears to be yellowing which tells you its time to cut it off as short as possible. But do follow advice of previous comments.Reading as much as you can on this orchid is also very helpful. Good growing!

Flowers just on its usual dying phase..this would be a good time to check the roots and repot if you have not done it yet, allow those roots to breathe, and care for the plant as it eventually rests a bit. As it gathers energy, it will make new roots and foliage, then hopefully by next Fall to Spring, a new flower spike emerges.
Lots of threads here about caring for Phals. Happy reading! Enjoy the plant..patience will be your friend.

The best post on Phals is in the sticky at the top of this page and is titled "The Phal abuse ends here". Good luck.

Well, it had a pretty good bloom time then. So since the flower stalk has died. just cut it back close to the leaves. Now is the time to inspect the pot and likely re-pot it before it dies of root rot. As mentioned by Cym Ladye, there are some good threads on here with details for good Phal care. They need to get some air to their roots and not be in soaking wet moss all the time. What they come in from the store is usually too dense and moisture retentive for them to survive long term. I like a mix of moss and medium bark in a pot that has very good drainage and aeration. In nature the roots are attached to a tree and out in the open so this is why they need to breath in the pot also.
