Plant Stands
I am having space issues...and am wondering what you all use to store your chids...I am trying to search for a multiple tiered plant stand that will also accommodate humidity trays and not fall apart under weight...of the plants.
Any ideas??
Thank you in advance,
Zach

Hi Zach, this is what I'm using in my grow space. I went verticle, and I'm also using lights and humidity trays. Seems sturdy enough, and I have it loaded pretty good!

I have the same stand as Terri has along with the shorter version (4-shelf), another of the same type consisting of two tall towers and a shelf in between them, and two baker's racks...plus a number of poles and hooks for the vandas.
The stands shown above work really well for hanging minis along the front of it
They're all loaded with plants and humidity racks...no fear of collapse

If you want pretty... I got a great deal at Marshalls. It is a rod iron 4 tier shelf with wooden shelves... But they had many different kinds... The selection changes from store to store. Ross has great ones too. Mine was $60. And it is gorgeous. You see. I needed it to look pretty because I have my plants in my living room. But if you want casual/practical, quiltergal's idea is good too.

The racks that Terri and I have come in chrome, off-white and black. We have the off-white and they're not as industrial looking as you might think.

I agree with Sue, Once you get your light and plants on the shelves ... it looks pretty good. Holds alot of weight too. Wonderful thing is -- you can adjust your shelves anytime - a total plus.
I've got one in my kitchen. If you don't like the colors, theres always tremclad
I do love the look of cast iron, I'll probably spray paint mine this summer.

Or you can get the 4 tier mini greenhouse, it's cheaper.
4-TIER MINI GREENHOUSE by Tek Supply, Small Greenhouses at www.homesteadhelpers.com
I only post the link for picture purposes. I did a quick Google search. I have this model but in winter take off the covering.
Lowes usually carries these, that's where I got mine.

Hi Zach,
I'm with Terri & Sue. I use a 6' tall, 4' wide, 20" deep steel shelving unit and I attached 3 lights (6 tubes) below each shelf. I have humidity trays with pea gravel in them, plus the orchids, and the shelves hold up fine.
Home Depot here in MI carries everything I used, including the plant lights and timers.
