Looks great, Terri

I was so happy when I found these racks in the off-white as I'm not a big fan of chrome. The rack I have with the two towers and shelf in between is actually a closet organizer and it was chrome To protect the chrome from pitting...and to make me happy...we painted it with a brown Rustoleum spray paint.

Chris, that is an impressive setup......lol...I am thinking about putting something like that outside on my lanai...I am just looking for ideas as I have said and all of you have given that to me. MANY MANY THANKS

Now, I live in Florida which in the summer time can be Africa Hot, AND like you are in the middle of a rain forest in terms of humidity...so I assume that there is no need for a humidity tray if the plants are outside...yes, no, maybe so?:

Hi Zach

I'm in Florida too and for most of the year a good number of my 'chids are outside around the pool. I still use humidity trays...but I've taken the cheap way out with them Used Rubbermaid drawer organizers that I picked up in Walmart for less than $3 and laid a piece of lattice over the top. Voila! A humidity shelf!
You can see them in the pictures below, which shows what the room looks like when every plant (except the very large) is in the room hiding from the chilly weather

Mine is very similar except I have simplified watering. I grow in trays with a hole on one corner. I attached a hose to each tray and drain them into a large bucket. I empty the bucket into a sink with a sump pump. Since this picture, I have switched the hose on the top right tray to the opposite side. Looks better now.

As the years creep up on me, I try to make life a bit more easy.

I also grow in my basement, under lights, and have it set up very similar. I looks a bit hodge podge but it works well for me.

My kids and grandkids make fun of it. They say, "leave it to Grandma to figure it out". They also tell their friends that "Grandma grows her orchids in dog food". (S/H expanded clay balls). The only one who doesn't make fun of it is my great grandson. His coment is always, "Grandma-great, you have such beautiful flowers. Who knows, Grandma-great may turn him into an orchid addict some day.
