Red face A new Miltoniopsis

Hello everyone, I have bought a Miltoniopsis recently (unless it is a Miltonia) and I put in a relatively cool room. After three weeks I saw it is good to cut holes in the pot so I went and did it. However, ever since I brought it home, I watered it twice, which may have been a little bit too much. Now I thinkk it is not doing so well. What should I do next?
Also I have a Dendrobium phal. Polar Fire in my room which is quite warm, 21-22 degrees Celsius I am guessing. How often should I water it

You might try using bamboo kabob skewers to help you determine when to water http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ad.php?t=81484

Default Repotting

I repotted the Miltoniopsis. The root system is virtually gone. I cut it all off and set it in the new bark. I will spray it around the area where the roots should have been. But yeah, nothing good. The plant itself looks very nice, but I don't know for how long.

Sorry to hear that it was probably in poor conditions before you bought it..get another one while this is in ICU
Pick one with new growths as I have heard new growth=new roots!
Maybe someone more experienced will give you a better advice

Bless you! All but two of my orchids were "orphans" and rescued from grocery stores, home improvement stores and the like. In all the years, I've only lost a few of them, mostly because I didn't know how to pot or care for them then. Learning slowly.

Uh oh! miltoniopsis are harder to rescue once the roots are gone since they need moisture. also they like it quite cool . maybe try sticking it in a jar with some sphagnum at the bottom?

I do not have sphagnum moss but what I could do is to put some pebbles in a dish , pour water in it and have it as evaporation source.... I have not been so lucky with orchids for some reason. i do try as hard as possible but not much success

Do you have bark? Rocks dont hold lots of moisture so im not sure they would be as effective

I would have stones just to support the pot so it doesnt sit in water all the time... Plus if I drench bark all sorts of fungi will come out of it I am thinking
