Suspicious webs on miltoniopsis
Default Suspicious webs on miltoniopsis

Hi everybody!
I got this beautiful jewel as a gift
I just noticed some weird webs on the bark media...it looks fluffy almost like cotton rubbed on it!
I tried to move some bits but I see no mealy bugs.
Any idea? Also, it is blooming with unopened buds so I would like to leave it alone and not repot it. Wondering if it is a wise decision!
Thank you all in advance!

I agree - don't repot yet, but in the mean time, moisten - don't flood - the medium.

Very pretty! It looks like it may be mold growing on the bark to me, I would just throw the pieces with white on them away.

They look like hyphae. basically some random fungus. not pathogenic. I've seen that on old bark mix. Nothing to worry about.

Gorgeous color on that miltoniopsis!
Great pick!

One way to combat fungi is to provide them with competition, and grow your own strains which you innoculate the plant medium with.
