I hope you haven't made up your mind about what to grow in this window! I recommend Neofinetia falcata. Not only does this seem to be perfect conditions for Neofinetia, but Neofinetia flowers have a wonderful scent--perfect room freshner! There is a very nice Neofinetia vendor in Canada. Try this website:

Flora peculia are always there for our Montreal shows, so I could order something from them. I still have plenty of time to make up my mind, 'cause the temps here right now make it impossible to deliver through mail ( -4F three weeks straight now). I think the "air freshener" aspect is simply fabulous .

awach, I'm an orchid beginner, too, and like you live in a humid area, but I'd think a small fan on the lowest setting might keep your orchid from being overly moist. Of course, you'll want to keep in mind that in nature orchids grow in the upper parts of trees where the moisture passes through the plants rapidly. Also, is your orchid in peat or bark mix? (The watering method differs with the media)~
