It gets pretty warm here in the summers too, but I figured since I am growing indoors under lights, I would have more temperature control. I *should* be able to grow these, but maybe I have a brown thumb where masdevallias are concerned.

My greehouse in summer will be a tunnel effectively. I don't see it getting below 40C at the height of the summer.

See this is how I feel as well I really shouldn't be to mad as I have gotten 2 of them to bloom for me. My hirtzii has one bloom right now but it keeps putting out many buds that are now blasting. I was thinking it may be air movement so I got a little fan I am trying to run. I think they got to cold yep I am thinking so. I have them in my north kitchen window and when the wind blows guess what.

Also my Ken Dole blasted 2 buds after that last cold spell. I think it is going to have another one which of course makes me very happy. I have a humidifier running over the top of them 24/7 I am constantly hauling water for my humidifiers and my orchids. I really think I should get my own RO filter system.

I broke that humidifier and had to order a new one and it took about a week so they were without for a bit and I don't think that did them any good. I haven't tried a Dracula yet but I did get a Dracuvallia and it came with a spike that is doing nothing. Not dying nor growing. And the tips of some of the leaves are getting brown and I keep cutting them off.

And I want a Veitchiana and a few others, but I am trying to not get any more until I do much better than I am doing. So I really feel your pain......WE SHOULD be able to grow these

I was told that veitchiana is the easiest of them to grow and the best one for beginners to start with. I wonder if that was the best advice I have ever received regarding these little plants.

I nearly killed my dracula too, but like the phal I mentioned in my first post in this thread, it bounced back after I moved it to a terrarium. Still no flowers... two years and no flowers on the thing... but it's not dead yet!

Hummm, I hadn't heard that about it. I really do want one but am trying to hold off. Well if you haven't killed it then like me it's a good thing. I haven't killed one yet so on I go.

I hope it will bloom soon for you.
