Hubby was at a gardening center buying some bedding plants when he found a table of phals at half price. So he brought one home.
Poor little thing had a dusting of dirt all over with spag mounded up over the bottom leaves. It was potted in spag too, which smelled like dirt with white mold at the bottom. Mothering instincts took over.
Cleaned the leaves as best I could, then repotted it. Was surprised how many roots were still alive! Guess I got ahead of myself because bark and charcoal should be delivered any day now, but I couldn't leave it sitting in that gunk.
This is how it looked after cleaning it up and before the repotting...
The roots...
Couple of questions...
Can I repot it in a better medium after the blooms fall?
Do the size of the leaves indicate how big the plant may get?
Will the folded over leaf ever right itself?
Didn't know a phal could be blooming and start a new leaf too...
It's a cute addition to my chid family.
