That would be wonderful! I do hope people will let us know of other acronyms and abbreviations they'd like to know more about. Adding those to the glossary would be terrific, and so much help to the newcomers here. As a matter of fact, the first one I went looking for was BLC - and I did look at the glossary before I asked about it.

As for abbreviations of genera, and intergenerics - the names change pretty often, new ones added - If a list was added, we'd probably be constantly behind
I can understand that, and think it should definitely be separate. The things we need would get lost in such a large and ever changing database. Out of date information is almost worse than none, unfortunately. We wouldn't need to worry about the super obscure or rare names, I'd think. But a link to a source for them might be helpful to someone just getting interested in the deeper mysteries of orchidlore.

A sticky post containing a link to a page with abbreviations is do-able.
Unless everyone would prefer that, I'd think adding acronyms and abbreviations to the glossary would be better... have them all in one place. This thread might be stickied to give folks a place to ask about acronyms and abbreviations they don't understand. Then someone can add those to the glossary.

Cool! I just didn't know who you were.
I administer three other fora on a totally different software platform, so I'm having a good time here learning new stuff without mod duties.

I'm sure there are other threads on the subject.

Too bad we don't have a full time (paid because it would be really tedious) admin to do some house cleaning.

I don't think there can't be objection if members want to compile this list, but I do wonder about no-longer recognized /accepted (but still in use) names / abbreviations. Perhaps, if this is to be done, the currently accepted / recognized name and abbreviation should be noted.

Of course, there's no saying how long currently recognized will remain so ....

My request was for a list of abbreviations and acronyms separate from the actual plant names, especially since there are at least two of those. Adding the most used abbreviations and acronyms for other things to the glossary seems the best answer.
