1) Give away the Cattleya purpurata. Who am I kidding? I don't have room for a two-foot tall orchid under my lights. Right. I doubt it will be going anywhere.
2) Only replace orchids that meet with disaster instead of continuing to add to the collection. I am out of space.
3) Either figure out how to bloom the Cyncnodes Wine Delight 'Jem' divisions or get rid of them. They were in full sun and I fertilized and watered them like crazy...still no blooms?
4) Figure out how to bloom Bulbo ambrosia. It grows like crazy but is another I cannot get to bloom.
5) Ignore the fact that the cute Aerides odorata seedling is getting larger and larger...quickly. I can always hang it on the side of the shelves when it gets three feet tall, right? Yes, I should give it away but I probably won't.
6) Take better care of the Soph cernua. It grows and blooms every year but it could be fabulous if I did not keep forgetting to water it now and then.

1-get the orchids that I have now to bloom and really understand their needs better i.e. light humidity, etc. especially the 3 Draculas I purchased- I WILL get them to bloom or as others have said- give them away or sell them or trade them...have to focus on what I am good at with my conditions.
2-get more orchids...who I am kidding when I say NO MORE....even when I am spending a couple of hours every week watering them (not to mention the daily fussing I do)

Oh man I wish I only spent 2 hours a week watering. I should keep track of time. I seem to have so many I have to water every 2 or 3 days.

1. Even though I am taking better care of my orchids I would still like to do much better. I get lazy about feeding, for one thing.

2. I know I don't need any more orchids BUT....I really want to go to work on my wish list. I should be doing what others are saying and trying to find orchids that suit me better and not trying the ones I don't have conditions for. Like my masdevillias, I have a tough time keeping up the humidity and I can never leave them as I have to water them every other or every day. Cool, well cool I have most of the time.

3. I guess would be working on the humidity, I broke my one this week so poor masdies have been without for 5 days. The new one will not be here till Monday.

I resolved to only buy orchids I thought I could provide conditions for, but forgot to include size. This came to me when I went out to our local Safeway in search of the Miltonias they advertised. They never got any, and I had never seen one to be able to tell, one way or the other, if they would work for me. So off I went to Trader Joe's in the hopes of finding one. I saw one Oncidium Alliance orchid without a name that could very well have been a Miltonia, but it was at least 18"tall. And the Cymbidiums, which I also covet, were well over 2 feet high! So I have to add size to my consideration now. I love the flowers, but in reality, the plant is out of bloom and in need of special care for most of the year. I can't really put many more large orchids in my greenhouse. It's a bit like falling in love with a St. Bernard puppy, only to realize that the adult dog would be impossible to live with.

My New Year Resolution... I have one thing I have to work on and it's not related with orchids. I ain't telling.

I need few things such as metal rack for my living room which its orchids sitting on wood thing that fits a very big tv. It's like enteraintment center thing. It's just one flat rectangle wood stand thing with two cabinets. I'm sure you know what I meant. (Orchids are filling it up)

Get few more phal speices, go big orchid shows, get my husband cattleya for father's day(shhh it's secret), how to grow brassovola cordata, cattleya which I wasn't aware of calcium deficiency. What else? groaning, smack my head. Hope I can grow tomatoes and some vegs. better this year. FInger crossed!

I would love to have Czech german shepherd pup, who knows. My darling goofy, gsd/austallia shepherd passed away over a month ago. I do have Czech gsd, Kliment here. I like 2 or more dogs.

Learn more on variety of orchids. Holy moley! There are sooo many different kind which I can't keep up with.
My older son will graduate this May. Wow! My boy has grown up, he's 6'1'', and handsome.
Looking forward a Better 2015. I'm sure you all do agree. Happy New year! God bless you all...

Happy 2015!
Karen
