Looks like a root to me, if you are talking about the growth at the base of the plant right in front. (of Mimi's plant)

That's a root alright. But it looks healthy so you shouldn't have to wait too long for bloom. It's in sphag, so be careful that it doesn't stay too wet.

I'm voting for a spike.
It's exactly in line with the centre of the leaves, which is where all spikes emerge.

I think yours is a spike since it is coming from between the leaves. Roots usually come from below the leaves.
