I love Phals because they're so easy to tell when they need water, and they don't need it too often for me to keep up with, thanks to their huge, color-changing roots and their succulent-like leaves. And one of them has even rebloomed for me. (Also I feel sorry for the ones on clearance, which is why I have so many... but don't worry, I usually make sure to specifically get ones with healthy roots) The healthy root look is so hard to resist.

Catts are great too. I haven't seen any of mine bloom yet, but Catt flowers in general are pretty impressive, and I'm finding Catts to be remarkably forgiving of not being watered for a while.

The favorite currently is my Dendrobium chrysopterum, for the ease of care and amazing flowers.(I always had a soft spot for candy corn!). If/when my Gongora fulva blooms, we'll see!

Matt, I just love the pictures of your Neos. As you say, they are very enjoyable even when out of bloom.
Let's just say it managed to pull me up of my depression with this flowering, so yes, it's quite something.

Thank you for your kind words regarding my Neofinetia!
Well, I'm busy killing my only Neofinetia, so I can't grow those instead.

Not fancy, but I love my little NoID, yellow catt. It's on its second rebloom now and has new growth. It is an easy plant with beautiful blooms.
