Can this Onc. pbulb still spike?

Will an Oncidium pbulb spike right away (if it blooms at all) or could it go some time before it spikes? My Onc. was bought with a spike that grew a larger pbulb (before I purchased it) that hasn’t spiked. That pbulb has grown an even larger new growth which hasn’t developed a pbulb yet. Is there still a chance that middle pbulb can grow a spike? Thanks, Jack

if it hasnt spiked its not mature yet or other culture requirements such as lighting have not been met....They can grow until they reach that point of maturity. They dont spike right away. Thats how some get many spikes is the older bulbs matured at the same time, even though they might have been a different age.

Check the light. Not enough light is the most common reason that people have hard time reblooming orchids.

Do you grow and bloom other orchids?
Even with quite a bit of low light, oncidiums will still bloom but very poorly with just a few flowers.

Oncidiums in general are easy. Many spike as soon as new growths mature, while some might wait some time but not too long.
Then there are some picky ones as well and these sometime skip flowering. You just have to give time and learn the pattern of your oncidium.
What oncidium is it by the way??

It's Odontonia Pacific Paranoia 'Other Side of Cool' and I have only had it for two months. It's under 26 watt cfl's. The new growth is bright green so I think it's enough light but time will tell. I'm not concern if the middle pbulb doesn't spike but I thought I would ask. I have grown phals for several years but this fall was the first for other types of orchids. My first love is carnivorous plants and have grown them for over 30 years so orchids seem to be a logical extension. Jack
