I was very disappointed to find out that my Paph Fairrineanum has been going downhill steadily. I checked the roots and there were basically no good ones to save. There was 1 borderline one, but since it still had 3 green leaves, I decided to give the Sphag n Bag method a try. I must admit I was a bit nervous at first, but it doesn't seem like it would pull through if drastic measures are not taken quickly, so I figured...what the heck?
I did a bit of research just to make sure I was on the right track and dipped the entire plant in Physan 20 for a good 10 minutes or so. I also rehydrated the Sphag itself in the Physan so as to not introduce any new bacteria that would impede the Paph's recovery. I also introduced a bit of Superthrive and bagged the orchid right up.
Here is the patient tonight:
Since I haven't done this before, any tips are certainly welcomed and appreciated. I did manage to spot what looked like a new root trying to break through the bottom of the 2 remaining leaves so I guess there is hope. Other than that, keep your fingers crossed,
