Will definitely be buying some bamboo kebob skewers. My understanding is that vanilla bean orchids and lady slippers like to stay a little more moist than other types of orchids, right?

Also wanted to point out that those cheap wooden chopsticks that come with sushi tend to work well. I use them with my bonsai trees.

I haven't grown vanilla, so can't answer that. Paphs generally don't want the media to dry completely, but media shouldn't be soggy.

Grocery store, Target, - I've seen them at big lots; ebay ... lots of places (tip: look in the bbq aisle/section of the store, or cooking utensils)

I use them as stakes for plants as well. They are easy to size for small plants that need a stake.
