Fungus and virus are very different.
Move along, nothing to see here.

Yes, sorry. I misspoke. It is a fungus, not a virus.

I narrowed my choices to fragrant, easy growers, and from these,I selected 4 plants:
Neofinetia / falcata (Onamisecai)
Maxillaria / tenuifolia
Encyclia / tampense (Florida form)
Brassavola / nodosa
I just hope that they are easy, as the catalog described. This is my first time buying plants from mail order.

Plantluvver, the Neofinetia falcata is mounted, so during the growing season you must water it more often than a potted plant. I bought this plant to see if I can grow mounted Neofinetia. After a year and 3 months, it is growing okay. But it takes more work.

I certainly don't share your feelings about his plants. I have always gotten very nice plants over a period of several years now. I just placed an order for seven miniatures and when they are received I will follow up with a report on the quality of the plants.

I just placed an order with him for the first time, and I'll let you know what I think. I have ordered from 3 other growers, and while the customer service and shipping may have been poor, the plants seemed to do okay. It's just a risk you have to take if you don't have a grower nearby.

Andy's is pretty top notch. Not many other sellers can match the quality of plants. I've mail ordered from him, bought from his booth at shows, and purchased from him while visiting his nursery, and the plants look pretty good for a guy that sells thousands of plants with a bare bones staff. Andy himself is very sociable and knowledgeable. His staff is sociable and willing to help. I really can't complain.
I got a few things from the sale. Hopefully they do well.

If on the raffle table, perhaps Andy's isn't blame for the condition of the plants ...
I don't have too many plants from Andy's, but I am quite happy with those I have - with the exception of one, they were bought from Andy's at San Jose Orchid Expo, and everything they have had looked pretty good to me
