Flower bud or new leaf on Epidendrum hokulea? Male
Default Flower bud or new leaf on Epidendrum hokulea?

I have been fooled before thinking that I was seeing a flower bud, that turned out to be a new leaf. This looks different though... Any thoughts?

Hard to say from that angle, but I'm leaning towards leaf ... If it is a leaf, you should be able to see the "seam" where the two leaf edges meet. If there's no seam, it's a sheath

That's where I get confused, because at this point the seam has usually split to reveal it as a leaf. The fact that its still closed, as well as noticeably "plump" to the touch, makes me wonder... Here's hoping!

My hybrid reed stem Epi has just poked out a sheath, and did at this time last year, too - so, it's likely the season Hope it's a sheath!

I forgot that I posted this. Sadly, it was just a leaf. I guess the wait continues....
