Just watched the movie Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Thoroughly enjoyed it - but I wondered if Sharry Baby is named after one of their major hits called Sherry Baby - and its just a misspelling ? anyone know ? can't find anything on the internet and I know that most people wouldn't care anyway, but I just wondered.

No wonder you have small flowers on your plant.
You have oncidium Twinkle, not Sharry Baby.
Sharry Baby is the clonal name. There are three main color forms, white, yellow, red, and within each color form, there are also a few different cultivar or clones.
Whatever is written within the single quotation mark is a clonal name. So what you have is Sharry Baby clone of oncidium Twinkle. Oncidium Sharry Baby is a whole different plant.

I've never heard of Sharry Baby clone of Twinkle, but I guess there is now!

Sharry Baby is known for its fragrance. Although the blooms can be pretty, they're nothing to write home about...but that fragrance!

Confusing to say the least. So "Sharry Baby" can be both the clone as in Twinkle 'Sharry Baby' or the hybrid, as in Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' ?

Yes.
Though I have no idea why anyone would assign such a confusing clonal name to a twinkle.

No, it is a clonal name for the particular cultivar of oncidium Twinkle you have.

When people say Oncidium Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance', Sharry Baby is not a clonal name here but is the name of the hybrid plant that come from crossing Jamie Sutton x Honolulu. Like any breeding, there always will be certain degree of variabilities in the outcome, like color, shapes, plant size or habits, presence of fragrance, etc. Then some of these individual plant of Sharry Baby may be assigned a specific clonal name, like Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance', Sharry Baby 'Mikasa', Sharry Baby 'Red Velvet'...there are quite a few.
Clonal names are the ones within the single quotation mark.
