I see different varieties in bage at my lowes. I was wondering how long should they take to bloom. Are they usually so young that it will take years?

Yeah so if your Lowes once had bag babies or has never had bag babies then call their corporate office like i did and see if they'll start selling them again. I think their plants are just as good as some of the nurseries I've been to actually.

Yes, they mostly are several years from blooming. I have two Catts I bought 3 years ago...one has been blooming for me for 2 years (White Bridal Hawaiian Wedding Song) and the other is just now putting out bud sheaths. I have a third one that's getting really big but no blooms yet. I have a feeling it may do something soon, though - (Gleneyries Green Giant).
It's a great sense of accomplishment, I'll tell ya that!!
Now if I can keep them alive through this Florida cold snap I'll be really happy!

(its kind of embarrassin draggin a dead plant back to lowes though so I put them in bags so no one would know.)
I wouldn't do that unless they sold a bad plant that was dying but not showing signs yet and it wasn't your fault. If everyone did that they wouldn't sell them at all b/c they wouldn't make any profit, they sell them for profit after all.

My area Lowe's just got in 3 counter's full of really nice Phals on sale for $6 a piece. They just came in and had a sale price, not a marked down sitting around in bad shape one. Maybe other Lowe's are doing the same thing.

I've gotten 4 bag babies from Lowes, 2 Encyclias and a B. nodosa, and a rescue Dendrobium aggregatum. I really screwed up the Encyclias, but one is growing. The Dendrobium is doing well, but the star is the B. nodosa which produced two blooms within 6 months.

I could not resist those $6.99 Noid Phals, like I really need more phals

They all seem really healthy, nice roots and leaves. My neighbor also bought 2, I think she is bitten by the orchid bug now...
