Superthrive
I have been using Superthrive regularly for six months now, and every single orchid has developed new roots and canes/bulbs and is healthier than ever before.
I use it at full recommended strength every other watering. I use a weak solution of fertilizer in conjunction with the Superthrive. They are a good combination. (I can tell the difference from when I was just using fertilizer)
It is relatively inexpensive, easy to find, and I think it does what it advertises.
Just my humble and non-expert opinion.
Chris

I can not comment on K-L-N as I have never used it. I have, many years ago, used Super Thrive and in my opinion it did absolutely nothing for my orchids. I think Ray hit the nail right on the head when he said that even the better fertilizers are not "magic". I usually tell people that if some process, potting mix, fertilizer etc. doesn't hurt the orchid and it makes you feel better, by all means do it. While I do believe in good cultural practices, I sometimes wonder how much we do for our orchids is for us, not the plants. The only thing I stick with is using an urea free fertilizer and usually go back and forth between Sunbulb's Better Grow and MSU depending upon price and availability. Now, having said that, perhaps more orchids over time have been grown using Peters 30-10-10 where urea makes up the vast portion of the nitrogen than maybe any other fertilizer.

I didn't think Superthrive was a fertilizer? ![Scratchhead](http://www.orchidboard.com/community/images/smilies/new/scratchhead.gif) Isn't it rooting hormone to be used in conjunction with fertilizer? Haven't used it myself, but I'm contemplating...

Correct, Carolyn.
My assessment of the rooting hormone supplements, after years of experimenting and even formulating my own concoction, is as follows: - As a presoak (plant and/or medium), it's good for "kick-starting" root growth when repotting.
- If you have done a lousy job of your orchid culture, whether that be waiting too long to repot, using too compact of a medium, or anything that has contributed to root loss, then it is a good addition that will help your plants recover from your abuse.
- If you are treating your plants well, and they are growing nicely, with healthy roots, there does not seem to be any advantage to using the stuff.

Concerning the Naturize product that I liked to use it seems odd that no one wants to carry there product and even there website seems to have disappeared…strange….I did call my local Ace Hardware to see if they have it she told me a guy had been in a while back to get them to sell it but they were not interested. She did recommend to me a product called Turf Pro she said it was made on the same principle as the Naturize. Just wondering if anybody here has tried it? I think I will give it a shot.
