Yeah. Fertilize year round with dendrobium that don't need a rest.

I have a question about a friends orchid. She has a Dendrobium Phalaenopsis, Anna Green. She has been having leaves turn yellow and fall off recently. Is this common with this type of dendrobium in winter/fall?

No. It should retain its leaves all year. If it's only on the oldest of canes or just one or two it might be natural.

Thank you. She lost 3 I believe. I don't have any denrobiums, so I really don't know a lot about them. After reading up on them, I plan to get one.

My friend had re-potted without cutting away any dead roots. She said the plant had an odor when she re-potted, and still smells it at times. The pictures she sent had great aerial roots but I was thinking she probably was loosing leaves due to root rot in the media. She may have even left spag moss on roots. She is bringing the plant to me for some plant nursing, so I will know more soon. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't a natural winter leaf loss before I get started. Thanks again!

There are different philosophies on this.
