Which orchids have short-lived flowers? My brassia's short-lived flowers made me sad!

Another cause for bud blast and premature bloom drop is if you have ripening fruit sitting nearby. Bananas, apples etc. give off ethylene gas as they ripen and can cause blooms to 'finish' early. Hence the saying one bad apple spoils the bunch. A bruised or damaged piece in with all the good ones makes them ripen faster and go bad faster.

I find most of my blooms from the Oncidium family, including Brassia types last a number of weeks. I've had a Brassidium Fly Away 'Miami' in bloom for at least 6 weeks before they died off.

Here is the picture, the plant has tiny pinkish bulbs which you can't see from this picture.

Haha!! I am extremely aware about the ethylene gas given off by fruits, but I don't think that was the cause, either.
My phal is near an apple and it's still blooming strongly.

I am very picky about my bananas, and I get mad at my boyfriend/family if they put bananas in the fridge or put bananas with the apples (for ripening them too fast) because it ruins them!!

There are many members of the same section of Dendrobium that laevifolium is in, Oxyglossum that have blooms that last many months. You would probably want to avoid Stanhopeas since their blooms last only a few days.

I have a Phal hybrid that bloomed last year from Feb to August, and it is spiking again now

My little Dendrobium laevifolium finally lost the oldest bloom that was there when I got it in Oct, but is putting out a new flower the next day, today! The other blooms are still fresh and pretty. Just love this little plant!

Dendrobium crumenatum flowers last only a day.
Restrepia brachypus lasts about a week but blooms several times a year (most often in a warm spell following a stretch of cool wet weather, IME)
