Mouse attack.
Arrrrgh. Would you believe it? A mouse got into the woodshed, and decided that biting one of the buds off the only flowering Cattleya was the way to go!
Mercifully he left the other two buds alone, so that plant is now hanging from the roof by a wire, so as to hopefully get it out of the way of the little swine.
Plus there are 4 mouse traps loaded with plain chocolate stationed all along the shelf in there in the hope that I can bring his life to an abrupt close. I have 4 dogs here so I can't sprinkle poison around as I would like to.

It's a Catt eating mouse, not a chocolate eater.

I too have dogs and mice.. One day I went to get rice and saw a hole and all the rice gone. I know how annoying mice can be. The best thing to do is Ortho Home Defense Max Press N Set Mouse Traps. Use peanut butter and you will catch them fast.
Also make sure there is nothing they can eat around. I had to put all bread and rice in a rubber made storage container. Problem solved.

Try using ground Cayenne pepper just spread it around, they don't like the taste and it won't hurt your dogs just leave a nasty taste in their mouth, unless you have a Chihuahua who likes hot peppers

Well, I have tried peanut butter, but the smart mice lick it off the bait pedal. A bit of plain chocolate pressed onto the bait pedal after you warm it with a blowlamp (carefully) will stick hard, and sooner or later they will go for the last piece and SHAZAM! no more mouse.
Well, one of the traps was sprung this morning, which might have been a misfire, which sometimes happens, but it might have been the mouse, which would be a shame as a trap shy mouse or rat is very hard to catch.
The orchid is now hanging from the roof beam by a wire, in the hope that it will get to bloom, safely out of the reach of any marauding vermin.

The best thing to put in a mouse trap is something like a piece of Nutrageous. It's a candy from Reeces. You get the peanut taste but with the thick sticky carmel like center they get caught trying to eat.
