Various holidays like mothers day and valentines day often bring unusual orchids to those stores. It also depends on who the floral department manager is.

I found this mini catt at Trader Joe's the other day. It's marked as Lc. Bigtime 'GL#9', though I can't seem to find anything about it online. Its fragrance reminds me of roses.

That's not a mini catt. It's just a smaller Cattleya. These do bloom at a height of 5 or 6 inches, but will grow to be over 16 inches tall with flowers the size of grapefruit.

I wasn't aware that large/standard catts reach blooming size at such a small size. The newest pseudobulb is only 4 inches tall (6 inches with the leaves), so that's why I assumed it was a mini catt. I actually love the larger catts, so that's good news for me.

Yeah, they can. My daughter picked up a Potinara Chief Sweet Orange in bloom at that size. A few months later, I saw one at a big box store in an 8 inch pot that was gigantic. I was surprised!

A dendrobium nobile managed to follow me home. I think it's a Den. Nobile Sea Mary 'Snow King'.

I've repeatedly checked the TJs around my home and they never have anything other than Noid phals!

It depends on the location. The lady who rang up my order told me the shipment came in that morning.
