Hello all
I picked up a couple pity cyms from home depot. one has a new growth that has the "happy sap" drops on it so yay for future blooms I hope. the other one was a freebie I told them if they gave it to me I would try to save.. it was outside and we have had some pretty solid freezing nights... Its leaves are toast and new growths are going to be gone for sure but the back bulbs feel firm still is there any chance it will come around? and anything I can do to help it? right now its in a lower light room that's kept fairly cool where I don't have to look at its sad self often. I was also wondering if I should re pot the one in spike now or should I wait? its in typical home depot condition but very underpotted so it seems to be drying out ok. I am worried disturbing it might make the spike stall, its about 2-3 inches along at this point.

If it is in too poor shape I wouldn't worry about the flowers if you want to save the plant. I think what you are doing is right, don't shock it by moving to warm and sunny to fast. I would probably repot and check the roots. Congrats on the new Cyms!

For the freeze damaged one, do exactly what you are doing. Water VERY sparingly so the roots do not turn to a mush mess. Leave the dead leaves on too. In a few months, when the bulbs start to send out new growths, you can trim off the dead leaves. Some may fall off and save you the task!

Wait until the new growths are up about 2-3" from the bulbs without leaves. Do not divide it. It will take several years for this plant to recover, but recover it will if the current bulbs are still firm.

Do not repot the other plant until the weather warms up. If it is not in stress now, enjoy the blooms. If it is in stress, remove the spike to enjoy as a cut and let the plant recover until spring.
