I have these leaves on my mini catt and am getting nervous. What do you think it is? The second pic shows the leaf actually folded in half.

Do you have scale on those leaves? I can see little brown dots in the 2nd picture.

It doesnt feel bumpy or scrape off. So i dont think so. I checked the one still on the plant cause i threw away that one that folded itself. I m scared! And it is only on topside of leaf.

Probably was too wet and had mild rot in the fold, then grew out. This can happen if leaves do not dry out after watering.

Can you tell us what your growing conditions are and how the roots and potting media are? That way someone might pick up on what is causing it. It"s a Cattleya so they don't like to be constantly wet and need good air at the roots. Lots of good light and moving air also.

Potted in bark, clay pot. On southern windowsill with sun about half day. I feed weakly weekly and flush after 3-4 feedings. Looks like new growth coming at bottom yet the leaves seem leathery. Same with the mini catt next to it. I soaked it day before yesterday but it is bone dry today. How can something be wrong when its getting new growth? Could it need new potting media and not holding any of its watering

When was it last potted and how are the roots? I use only med. bark for my Catts but they are in plastic pots with very good drainage and air holes. If the roots are minimal or dead, they can be shrivelling no matter how much you water them. I like to make sure my Catts are dry or very close before watering again. I place a bamboo kebab skewer down into the media and check it to see if it is wet before watering. Sometimes the top part of the pot is dry but not the bottom and if watered too soon, root rot occurs.

They will still put out a new growth if they have enough energy and hopefully the new roots will remain healthy and sustain the plant. The leathery leaves may or may not plump up again.
