I would just wait and see. I did this on intention- mind you more like desperation- since after I came back from a vacation (someone else cared for my plants) I realized the crown was in a rotty-moldy kinda state. I cleaned my sharpest scissors and went ballistic. Basically, I had 2 leaves and a solid mass of roots... After about 6 months, it made a flower spike and a year later a new section grew out of the side...so now I have a new crown.

The only thing I did differently is that I made sure never to wet the section where I cut like crazy. I always soaked the roots and fertilized...all normal treatments just like before...and now it's back with a vengeance. I mean the crown plus flower spike not the rot-mold part.

I suggest patience (something I lack horribly) and let time elapse...don't move it if it was happy there before.

Added a picture for encouragement. Good luck!
