What!? I'm getting ready to go on vacation (like in five days). I've had this plant for like 20 days... and I come home from a friend's house tonight and check on it and I see this:

I am a little confused by the yellow on what I believe are the buds... this plant's a new one on me. WTH!? Couldn't you wait until I got back!? LOL!

Thanks for looking. Any light you can shed, or commentary or advice is always respected and appreciated!

Buds!!

Don't worry as the spike elongates and buds develop the color should intensify.

Can't wait to see the bloom pics!

Oh I hope the buds don't blast while I'm out of town! I'd love to see this one blooming! I've been so excited about this plant. I ordered it and then found out it was on back order, so I waited for it for a month or so to come in, then when it got here the leaf tips on several leaves looked bad. I clipped them, dusted the cuts with cinnamon and treated the plant with physan as a precaution in case it was a fungal issue. It's been bouncing back well. New pbulbs started growing not long after and it's not even under my lights. It's still in quarantine. It's a tough little orchid!

Just got back... and it is lovely. I thought the color was supposed to be red, but I think I will just take pictures of it as the blooms age because they are definitely darker when I first saw them. They're a school bus yellow today, almost orange, not quite. So, so beautiful. I'll post an update pic tomorrow.

Can't wait to see the new pictures and I hope you had a very good vacation. I bet you couldn't wait to get home to see what this orchid looks like as it opened a bit more for you. Enjoy and remember to post them pictures as we all want to see.
