It's starting to open up more. The color is definitely a carrot orange. It doesn't seem to be getting much darker, but some photos I've seen of this species have blooms that are a bittersweet orange, or almost red, so I believe that it is possible for the blooms to get a bit darker than mine has, it might have to do with the amount of light that it gets.

I'm honestly in shock that it spiked. It's sitting in quarantine on my dining room table a good six feet from the window. It was a nice surprise for sure!

You can see the blooms separating now. They're quite tiny compared to the plant. Very pretty. Really great splash of color for my collection. No scent, but I'll forgive it for not having a scent in exchange for this vibrant color. I love going downstairs to look at this plant every morning.

I think this one's a keeper.

Looking good, I wish it would hurry up and open all the way.

It's doing quite well considering I just noticed the spike three weeks ago.

I meant to add in my earlier post that I think these blooms are as open as they get. Every pic I have seen of this species shows a downward facing bell type flower.

And that's it. The blooms are just about done. I only got 3 weeks out of them. I'm a little disappointed, but at the same time, the color is so lovely, it was worth the wait to get this plant though. I love it! I expect it will be among my favorites in my collection.
