Cymbidium flower buds yellowing.
Default Cymbidium flower buds yellowing.

OK, the Cymb I bought earlier in the year threw two spikes and just as they were emerging from the spike, they both stared to yellow, and then drop the flower buds.

Anyone able to suggest a reason and cure please?

Some possibilities include: change of / in environment; too hot; too dry; pests

OK, thanks. I can rule out a change as it has been there long before the spikes formed. Poss heat, I have moved it to a slightly cooler place, and there is what looks like another spike forming, so we will see.

I had them do this when I tried keeping my first one indoors. I moved it outside in the summer and in a cool (but frost free) greenhouse for the winter and I've not had the problem again.

This is a common happening when you bring plants in bud into the house into a warm environment with no cool down at night. Leave plants outside or in a cool place until the majority of the buds are open.

It can also occur when we have heat spell of a few days. Some Cyms are more susceptible to this than others, depending on their genetic makeup. This seems more likely for your plant.
