I use the Bayer miticide, insecticide 3 in 1. It works well but I also love Neem b/c it will get things my Bayer doesn't get and vice versa. Neem oil does smell really bad though. I am starting to spray my outside plants too but have really only had a little leaf and root damage and haven't seen anything on them.

my plants are already indoors because of the temps now in upper 40's.
A tip for whatever solution you use to dunk.
Line a pot slightly bigger than the plant pot with a plastic bag/garbage bag. Insert the plant pot into the waterproof bag. Run a Neem Oil solution through the plant pot as a drench - Neem kills everything ( in my experience ) and fills up the liner plastic bag with solution without wasting. I leave about an inch of solution in the liner bag - that means the plant pot is standing in an inch of solution. Leave plant pot for as long as you can in the liner bag, soaking in the solution. In the meantime use a Safer spray/Sucrashield or Neem to spray the leaves and stem. You can then dispose of the liner bag and use another one for the next pot. Worked like a charm.
This will also work well indoors if you use an organic pesticide that is safe for indoor use.

It depends on what you have. I have brought most of my orchids inside but I have left out the Pleiones, the zygo, the neos and the noID phals for now. The rest are all inside. The Pleiones will be spending the winter in the fridge anyway so I don't think they mind the cold.

They're going to have to tough it out, I'm not bringing them in yet. Well, maybe a couple

They all survived a calm night of mid-40's temperatures with no sign of problems. Lows in the 50s predicted for the next 10 days...they are staying out.

A benefit of this forum, you meet people from around the world. Zurich is an amazing city--it is very clean, easy to get around, and the people are friendly.
