White fuzzy mold-like substance on soil.
Question White fuzzy mold-like substance on soil.
Anyone know what it is? They are my MIL's orchids (happened to two) and she is on a 3 week cruise right now. She's the expert, not me!

Ugh...that's an African violet and the soil is too wet. Let it dry a bit and when you water,do so by placing the pot in a saucer of tepid water and let it drink from the bottom. A bit of air circulating would help.

Yeah, this is embarrassing! I actually do know the difference between African violets and orchids, but my head was somewhere else while looking for answers online. Perhaps she watered it a LOT before she left, so it could go 3 weeks without.
