Please think of it as "getting more specific", not "correction".
There are simply SO many different orchids, each with its own set of needs - even the same species originating from different populations can have different requirements - that generalizations are usually only good as "starting points", requiring careful observation of the plant to "tweak" the culture in the right direction.
There is a great deal of orchid-growing "lore" out there, and as it is restated over and over in societies and on these forums, much of the detailed background info gets lost.
Being a scientist & engineer, one of the things I do is seek the detailed info. I can't help myself.
