Triopilia tortilis to bloom
Hi, can someone tell me what can be done to make my Triopilia tortilis to bloom?
I live in Monterey Bay about 1/2 mile fron the ocean. It is in a 5 inch plastic pot, and about 25 +/- growths.
Thank you, alanrr

How are you growing it now? Light, water, fert, temps, etc?

Outside open sun, many foggy summer days; water once a week, half strength, balanced orchid food; temperature days 55-65, night 45-55, protect in frosty days.

If you're having difficulties getting this orchid to bloom, try growing them warmer during the day in the summer. Allow them to cool down during the winters.
Provide moderately bright indirect light.
Increase watering during the warmer months. Decrease watering during cooler months.
Try this out and see if you get the results you're looking for.

Your temps might be a bit too cool for this plant. Usually the day time temps are in the 70's into the low 80's and night time in the 50's. So, that stands out as an area that might be of concern.
Also, I keep all of my Trichopilia very, very moist. I even grow some sitting in saucers of water to maintain a high level of moisture. I grow mine warmer though so I don't know that this would be wise unless you can grow it under warmer temps.
Everything else looks/sounds good.

Uh-oh...I suspect a possible a tag mix up along the way somewhere because that doesn't look like a trichoplia. Looks more like a cattleya, ,maybe.

Do you happen to know which Masdevallia you have there? Growing conditions vary from plant to plant.
