back to the thread about phal roots or roots in general not hanging down.
Here are a couple of mounts that show roots hanging down in thin air and roots that have circled the mount a couple of times. Small mount and large orchids. Also a couple of pics of a mounted orchid that I've had for a long time. Cattleya Intermedia which has a virus. It is expressed in flowers that have color break. The plant grows quite well despite the virus and flowers prolifically every year. I think I've had this for over 15 years. There is no mount material left here. Just lots of roots both dead and alive. Somewhere on this board are pictures the last few years of this in bloom. There are now lots of sheaths with nascent flower buds inside which will flower in about three months. If you like pretty flowers on a plant that is about as easy to grow as you can hope for, any of the cattleya Intermedia's will thrill you. Reliable bloomers and prolific growers. very easy to grow too.
Wow, nice! Those are some healthy roots and plants, thanks for sharing.
How do you care for these guys on mounts? Daily misting? They're in your greenhouse I'm guessing...?

They get watered every few days. The large C. Intermedia gets watered every week. Sometimes more. The smaller get watered every few days if hot here. They are hanging in my hovel of a GH. Very cheap GH. In fact if the orchid police saw it they would site me for negligence. But beggars can't be choosy.
