The Seeds Never Arrived
Halee one of our members sent me some seeds this week that never made it to my house. The envelope made it but the seeds were missing and the letter inside to me was torn as well as the envelope.

Homeland Security. They thought it was a terrorist plot and confiscated the lot. You'll get a knock on the door late some night soon and disappear. God bless the fearful in this country.

No it was not left on my porch, I have a locked mailbox and the mail man handed it to me as I was on my porch when he came.

Maybe someone thought it was some kind of drugs that were being shipped to me in the envelope and they opened it and took the contents out. Who knows really what happen to the seeds.

Your mail man handed you that envelope like that??!!?? It looks like it was mangled in a machine possibly but it does seems strange the seeds aren't in there. Although, they could have fallen out once it got torn open...? Gosh who knows...sorry for your...unluck... Definitely I would file a complaint with USPS though.

No animal tears into an envelope like that.
It looks like it got caught in a conveyor and got ripped open. This is most likely what happened.
Or…
Someone tore it open to look through the contents. Some postal workers do steal other people's mail sometimes.
It could also be Homeland Security, but who knows. This one is a whole different matter...
Btw, good luck filing a complaint with the USPS, their processing of a complaint is probably more infuriating to deal with than having to just accept the loss and move on. You may go ahead and try, but be aware that there's a possibility that they might tell you things that you want to hear, but not really solve anything, or tell you that they can't do much for you even if they really wanted to. With luck, maybe they might come up with a satisfactory solution, but I wouldn't count on it. Try complaining anyways. Just go into it with very low expectations.

I agree - especially as the seed was in a little vial. Vials are better off enclosed in boxes or padded envelopes. The automated sorting equipment will do just that with non-flat objects in flat, letter envelopes.
If you're going to ship vials in envelopes, select a piece of cardboard that fits in the envelope and is the same thickness as the vial. Then cut a notch in it, and place the vile in the notch. That way the entire envelope is the same thickness.

I don't think much will be done either if I put in a complaint. Its better to just learn we can't send vial in the mail in a envelope. We just have to chalk it up to we tried. Halee if the seeds end up germination please post pictures so I can watch them grow. I love all your pictures.
