Just a special thank-you for all that offered suggestions as to why I had plenty of new growth but no buds. I did as you said and didn't fertilize new growth until it was about half grown and to my absolute amazement(after 3 long years) I should have a bloom in a few wks. I do wonder what to do when one new growth is considerably larger than another new one just starting.

Sounds like one pbulb is ready to open it's flower bud while the other is still growing. In that case I would fertilize lightly.

Only if it is ready to bloom. You can force it to bloom but I usually don't and just let it flower when it is strong enough. They are larger and last longer.
