The backbulbs have dormant eyes. You can certainly try to mount it, but it will be a big wait for the dormant eyes to develop the young new bulbs that will have the new roots. That is why 3 or 4 backbulbs kept together is really good to have.

If it were mine, I will not mount the backbulb for now, but will plant it, just making the base of the backbulb sitting on the media, do not bury it. Keep it in dappled shade and just moderately moist media and wait patiently. There are no roots to drink the water, so do not be watering it daily. The plant will use up whatever stored energy it has to push out that new psuedobulb.

Luckily your area by now will have good humidity levels since it is monsoon season, so that will encourage the old pb to do a new one. Just be patient with it....lots and lots of patience as you wait.
