Online Order
I am new to Cattleya's but I received a plant that has black at the root where it begins and black on the oldest bulb at the base. The last time I saw black on a Cattleya (my first one ever that died) it was Black rot, but it was on the leaves. The bulb is still hard. Another bulb close to it is also growing a root. Overall it seems pretty healthy, but not liking to see the black.
It is also not the pot size stated and a very tiny little plant from a very recommended seller.

They will never know you aren't satisfied if you don't tell them. Be nice but let them know....Jean

I agree. Give them both barrels but be civil. Pictures are very helpful in pleading your case. And don't forget the canolli. Bada bing.

Good advice. Disconnect between the quality in the warehouse and the people taking your money is sometimes bigger than we normal people would think. It is up to the customer to send that letter of dissapointment. Please do.

I do plan to let them know, their business hours were already closed. Thanks for the tips. Hopefully they respond well, otherwise by business is definitely lost.

Are you sure you're looking at rot? I've seen (numerous times) where people who are new to catts thought the "black" was a problem and it turned out they were looking at the darkened cataphyll.
Pictures would be very helpful.

Thanks Katrina. No, I am not sure it is rot. Let me post some pictures I am not sure if the black is older bulb or what it is.

Definitely then...pictures are needed. It could be rot...but it just might be something totally normal and nothing to be worried about.

Cattleya Walkeriana Pictures
Here are the pictures. You can see black at the root where it is at the pseudobulb and on the bulbs. Please advise on what you think, thanks again.

That plant is not healthy. Send photos to supplier, and ask for a replacement. Their response will then determine your next action, if any.
