Here they are. The plant has sort of listed-over in the pot over time, and those are the old roots on top. It has been making loads of new growth down below, and to be honest, I sort of like it when they lean over, because I am less able to sloppily get water in the crown then I mist or water. Can't wait to see what colour the flowers are.

Super. See? Prayers do work. Pink or reddish stripes would be my guess although there are splash colors now. Big gaudy burgundy or red spashes of color against white background. Can't wait to see it. I would get something like florists take across the top of the pot to hold this down before the spikes get long enough to tip it out of the pot.

Ooh, that's a good idea. Also, I've never staked a new spike before...I'm so paranoid I'm going to break it. Luckily they are growing in a pretty straight-up way, so it should be elementary, but do you have any advice? I usually prefer those butterfly clips (the ones that look like hair clips, lol) because I seem to always do damage with those ones that slide over the stake when I am trying to pry them loose. Is there a right time to stake it up, or just...whenever?

The rescue plant continues to thrive...It;s even staked-up now. The first time I have ever had to do that. I'm happy to report I didn't break anything.
The plant has also convinced it's neighbour on the shelf to spike. This one will be a panda type NOID (grocery store rescue).
These guys are getting a LOT of light this summer (unusual for Scotland), too much probably as a lot of them are right at the edge of looking like they need a break, but I guess that's where the flowers come from.

They look lovely. Leave them there. As long as it's not direct sunlight during the mid day it is fine.
