Default First online order...thrilled!!!

It's my first online order and my first cattleya, a lc dinard blue heaven. I fell in love with the pics of the potential blooms and thought I could give it a shot and see what happens. I think the plant looks gorgeous and am already in love! It has a beautiful, large, healthy root system and I'm looking forward to learning all about it so I can take the best care of it possible. It appears to have some new growth too...could this get any better?!?!?

Plant looks healthy. Glad you're pleased.

I just spent about four hours this morning gingerly picking dried up sheaths from Cattleya pseudobulbs with tweezers, so that second picture was like... Stop! No more papery sheaths!

It looks like a lovely plant. As Hiester mentioned, that brown papery material at the base of the pseudo bulbs can carefully be pulled away. It makes for good hiding places for scale, mealy bugs etc. Just be gentle so you don't damage the pseudo bulb.

I have one of these that I got from Hausermanns a few months ago. It has huge beautiful leaves, its my largest Catt so far and I love watching it grow. I haven't gotten flowers yet but the new growth looks like its getting close and I am so excited to see them! Congrats on yours!

Judith, I would soak the plant before you carefully remove those sheaths--that helps you loosen them from the pbulbs.
