I know the leaves probably won't ever really come back but I just don't want to lose the plants. I'll go pick up the Daconil after work just in case.

Hi Suzanne!
We agree with all of the above... if you don't find the supplies you need in your local stores, we have a lot of orchid supplies and media mixes in our online store: La Casa de las Orquídeas US English
Also, we have an article about watering that we think you may find helpful: " How should I water my orchids?"
Hope it helps!!
Regards,

Stumpy looks pretty good. That root looks like it has lots of good tissue. I would give it more light.

ok, I'll keep him where he is. Do I mist him? I keep hovering and I know I should just leave him alone. But his one root is so dry looking now. I've never had a mounted orchid so I'm not entirely sure about when to dunk him. Thanks so much for your helpful advice!

When the root looks dry. It will look wet when wet, and dry, like paper when dry. If you want to you can spray the undersides of the leaves. But I would do it with distilled water so an dissolved solids won't clog up the stoma. Keep the root hydrated like your vase culture. If you can get some of Ray's Kelpmax to help grow more root, that would help.

Would you spritz the KelpMax on the roots with the distilled water or reserve that for when the roots are ready for a soak?

When I water my mounts or mist/spray them, I use RO or distilled water. The reason is that when the water evaporates, whatever solids/minerals are in the water is left behind on the roots. If you have a water that is high in dissolved solids, those solids like calcium carbonate/manganese/iron/algae/mud/fish poop, will be left on the root when the water dries off and clog the roots. So I use as good a water as I can. I also spray or mist the undersides of the leaves as the stoma on the undersides of the leaves absorb moisture too.

Do you spritz with the KelpMax too or just soak with that when the roots are dry?

I spritz with the Kelpmax too. But then again, I dip most of my mounts as it is easier for me to do. I dip the whole mount plant and all. Not recommending it but that's what I do.
