Often times, orchid vendors put small plants together to make one large plant. Since this plant was imported from Ecuagenera (that looks like their tag), it is easier and more lucrative to bundle together small individual plants than to set up each little division in its own pot or mount. But of course, this might not fit the new owner's objectives--since you separated each of these bulbs.
Are you going to grow them separately? They will probably survive but will take a while to get that fullness look. It sometimes seems that smaller plants grow better together.
