Default This orchids roots seperated from most of the plant.....

I don't remember the name of this plant but I got it about 8 months ago. It had big tiger looking really cool flowers. Anyway I had it at the sink to water it and the entire top part of the plant fell leaving most of the roots behind. Is this because I didnt have it planted right or is something really wrong. I still have it in the pot propped up cuz it has some roots still Can it be saved? Any suggestions? I think its really thirsty.....

Yes ... well not all but the majority. I have just a few left that were connected at the top. In the pic you can see a little.

It can be saved! but do not water it until the mix has dried almost completely and then water it. The roots seem to have rotted from over watering (I'v had the same problem). I would try to keep the humidity high, 80% or so to get new roots going. You might try putting a plastic bag over it to get the humidity.

A plastic bag? Ok , what kind of bag? Like a shopping bag or just a ziploc?

Thanks!

Ziploc, as long as it can fit over the plant
