Depending on the micro-minis in question, some of them don't need to be grown in a terrarium.

Go to http://www.orchidboard.com/community...terrarium.html and you can see the terrarium progress from empty to blooming.

I would say the greatest challenge is ensuring that the micro-mini's selected will all work together. I eventually replaced one of the orchids because it needed more sun than the terrarium can tolerate because of the potential heat build-up.
