A few days ago, I got the ugliest oncidium at Lowes; a Odtna. Pacific Parinoia 'Other Side of Cool'

The flowers are spotted brownish and the lip is fuzzy purple. I bought it because I could not believe how badly colored it was. Talk about a mistake. A healthy plant though. Cheap.

This? Why do you say it is 'badly colored'? I think it is pretty. Or do you mean your individual plant?

Maybe the flowers on yours are older and faded?

Time your visit! See the condition of the Orchids for sale next time you go there, look for ones that look sort of warn out or like their flowers are getting old. It's probably just your timing. But too if you see one not yet marked down though it's clearly "dying" point it out to someone and ask for a mark down. Usually works.

I swore I was done but my Lowes had a bunch on their way out, minis at $0.50 and bigs at $3-5. I got two minis with the intent to give away next time they spike again. The bigger one had wrinkled wilted leaves and wilted flowers. I soaked them all for over half an hour (forgot about them a bit after that). The leaves are no longer wrinkled and all of the flowers recovered, two buds yet to open.

My Lowes has someone who repots them at some point from the moss they come in to a moss bark mix, I guess he sometimes takes them home to rejuvenate.

See now, I keep hearing people talking about finding Orchids other than Phals at their box stores and I've never been so lucky...or have I just been that lucky because I'd probably take it home...

I've only found other species at nurseries but even then they're certainly NOT discounted, lol.

Now that you post those pics I have to say I almost got one of those on eBay. I think they're one of those to each his own plants.

Oh and Mimigirl that looks just like a plant I got from Hausermann's this spring. My tag reads Minho Princess x Lightning. Mine is growing a keiki now, third leaf developing. It has cool dark reddish margins, do your leaves?

Great find! Love that plant.

It probably is a too each his own situation, true. Since it was on the discount rack, other people had passed it by too. It was a crow among swans for certain. I bought it, so I did like something about it. Its only a little 2 bulb baby, but it is very nice and healthy...despite that the Lowes employee at that moment was filling up the cover pot with water so It could drown.

`I am new to this board and happened to read your posts. Either Home Depot or Lowes used to buy from Gublers, they are a wholesaler, and they always had the nametag in the pot.
I went by the other day and they had Gublers on sale and the new shipment from a different supplier had no tags. I am thinking of calling Gublers and find out who they ship to now. their plants were always large and in excellent health.

I am pretty sure they don't sell online and I think they specialize in Phals mostly. But even at full price their plants were a bargain. If the Orchids are in fancy pots, that is mostly what you pay for.
I found a Phal Sogo Yukidian fr $9.95 and it is absolutely gorgeous. I checked the Web and it sold there for $35.95

I just got done calling Gublers and she told me they are still primary supplier fo Lowes. She told me they will have a shipment come into Lowes in Alamogordo NM on Oct. 9th.
At my request they will ship some Cattleyas.
Of course they will not be at sale prices but you can check your store or ask when they have their sale.
So I would call Gublers, the No is 741 529-5300 when they ship to your store.
I have bought plants from retailers on the web and got plants half as nice for twice the price.
