Funny thing these clearanced plants... I've found myself cutting through the plant/florist section on more than one occasion when I had no business, or no need to go that way, I wind up COMPLETELY out of my way, ya know, just in case there happens to be a plant in need.

The other week I was in Meijer & found a pretty Phal with wilting flowers but roots looked great. Hadn't yet been marked down, was late at night so no one around in that department but I figured once an employee caught sight of its "condition" they'd mark it down! No go. Turns out that vendor requires that they send the plants back when they decline/wilt, so no mark downs. (Maybe they got smart with the Orchids?)

Nice flowers everyone!

I love Clearance Orchids as you can learn a lot
I bought 5 mini Phals a few weeks ago which the store
Were going to throw out when I showed them to them
The staff were like there dead one said they grow back lol
In the end I got them all for £2.50 (50p each) originally were £5 each!

All flowers had died plants looked dry and horrid but I'm happy with there progress green and healthy looking 3x new leaves growing and I think 2 are pushing up new spikes

If you see a plant almost ready to plop just show it to the staff you may get lucky especially if they don't check them lol

I guess my timing must be off at our local lowes. Also home depot marks down orchids on a monday. There is a man, they told me, who comes and takes them all. Well i got one for $7. A phal in bloom that needed water so badly that the flowers were wilted. That was maybe six weeks ago. Want to see it today?

Good for you!!. Why don't you ask the cashier to hide a couple for you. I have bought several $5.00 ones. They are usually in all the dying plants.
Good Luck. I have better luck at Lowes.

I too succumbed to the Lowes clearance rack last week, they had one of those rolling stock carts (picture 4 shelves, aprox 2'x4' per shelf, and around 6.5' tall) and the entire thing was filled with phals at $4.98 a piece. They were in surprisingly good condition, just mostly at the end of their blooming cycle. It looked like there were maybe 5-6 different hybrids, so I grabbed 3 with good looking roots and leaves, but one is actually two potted together (both with spikes!) so I really ended up with 4 for $15
