Default how to fertilize my orchids

I have 8 orchids in which 2 are in bloom and one of the others the flowers all died off so i cut the stems down. I wanna fertilize them so i bought 30-10-10 fertilizer. Is that the right one? Someone told me you use different fertilizer throughout the year?…

If you fertilizer is marked for orchids, then it is a good one. They key to to use it at 1/2 the indicated strength. SO if it says use 1 Tablespoon per gallon, use 1.5 teaspoons per gallon. Too much fertilizer will burn the roots of your orchid and kill it.

Typically, you want to fertilize when the orchid is actively growing, or just before it is expected to start actively growing.

I use the same fertilizer year round, but vary the quantity used (or don't use at all) depending on the orchid's growth cycle.

With a 30-10-10 fertilizer, I'd suggest no more than 1/4 teaspoon per gallon if you feed weekly, and certainly no more than 1/2 that if you feed more frequently.
